AHI's History:
AHI is located on Ekitangaala Ranch 70 miles
north of Kampala. The ranch is a working dairy ranch owned and operated by Cornerstone Development Uganda.
The ranch produces and sells 600-700 liters of milk each day. 60% of the gross income goes directly to operate
Cornerstone Leadership Academy (CLA). CLA began 1987 with the purpose of providing honest leaders to rebuild
Uganda. Over 95% of CLA graduates go on to complete university education.
African Children’s Mission (ACM) began in 1990 to reach out to orphaned and destitute
children of East Africa. Partnering with Cornerstone in 1996, ACM now supports over 200 children, providing
school fees, books, uniforms, and assisting in paying teacher salaries. They also operate a feeding program
serving lunches in 5 different schools.
African Hospitality Institute (AHI) was founded by Maggie Josiah. She began her partnership
with ACM and Cornerstone in 2002 with annual short term visits. In 2006 she joined the ranch as a full time
field missionary, training staff and students in restaurant, hotel and professional domestic skills. The
vocational school accepted 12 students into it's first student program. Two extra guesthouses were built.
By the summer of 2008, AHI was ready to stand on its own. Consequently, during a visit to the
U.S., Maggie partnered with Impact Ministries and Eastside Foursquare Church to apply for and receive its own
non-profit 501c(3) status. A small non-profit board was also established. Many new local Ugandan
partnerships have also been coming together.
